Provincial Nominee Program

The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is one of Canada’s most powerful immigration streams, allowing provinces and territories to nominate individuals who wish to settle in a specific region. Designed to address local labor market needs, the PNP is ideal for skilled workers, entrepreneurs, international graduates, and semi-skilled workers who have the qualifications and intent to contribute to a particular province’s economy. What makes the PNP truly unique is its flexibility and regional focus—each province sets its own criteria based on local demand. Whether you have a job offer from an employer, graduated from a Canadian institution, or possess skills in high-demand sectors, PNP can offer a faster and more strategic route to Canadian Permanent Residency. By securing a provincial nomination, applicants receive 600 additional CRS points in the Express Entry system, almost guaranteeing an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence in the next draw.

How PNP WORKS?

  • Express Entry-Aligned Streams (Enhanced PNP)

You must first create an Express Entry profile. If nominated by a province, you automatically receive 600 additional points, dramatically boosting your chances of selection.

  • Base PNP Streams (Non-Express Entry)

You apply directly to a province. If nominated, you must then submit a separate Permanent Residence application to IRCC under the non-Express Entry stream.

Identify the Right Province or Territory

Each Canadian province and territory (except Quebec and Nunavut) operates its own PNP. The first step is to research which province aligns best with your background, skills, and goals. Provinces may prioritize different occupations or applicant types in their immigration targets.

Choose a Suitable PNP Stream

others paper-based (Base PNPs). Some streams target international graduates, others focus on semi-skilled workers, business investors, or candidates with specific language skills.

Submit an Expression of Interest or Direct Application

Depending on the province, you may be required to submit an EOI or apply directly to the stream. If you're applying through an Express Entry-aligned stream, you must first create an Express Entry profile and indicate your interest in specific provinces.

Receive a Provincial Nomination

If selected, you’ll receive a Nomination Certificate. For Express Entry applicants, this will award an extra 600 CRS points, significantly increasing your chance of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Permanent Residence.

Apply for Permanent Residence

Once nominated, you apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for your permanent resident status, either through the Express Entry system or via the traditional paper-based route, depending on your stream.

Final Review and Approval

IRCC reviews your complete application, including background checks, medical exams, and admissibility requirements. Processing times vary, but Express Entry-aligned PNPs are typically processed within 6 months, while base PNPs may take longer.
